Yep. Did a family trip up to Nova Scotia to meet cousins on my mom's mom's side I'd never met before. They cooked us (where us is a hundred or so gathered kin) a whole pig and took us to see the ancestral farm (which no longer has the ancestral farm house, but ah well) and all 'round threw a fabulous party. They are just the warmest most welcoming folks, it was awesome. I met the last surviving sibling of my grandmother's, and she was very sweet, though she has Alzheimer's and was sort of fading in and out.

Mom used to visit them when she was little, and then after her mom died we sort of fell out of contact until she and Dad went up there 8 years back.

It's really rural there, it felt like a whole other world.
