I’ve given this lack-of-interest-in-the-Lord-of-the-Rings phenomena a lot of thought. I’ve heard some of the fans say of non-believers, "oh, they just don’t GET IT." I disagree with this assessment. The real truth is goes much deeper than simply "getting it" or not. And it’s far scarier. The cold hard facts are this: They’re STUPID.

*hee hee!* I actually have two friends who not only don't "get it", they actively hated Fellowship of the Ring and didn't even bother to go see The Two Towers. It positively boggles the mind, but I try not to hold it against them ... too much. ;)
