wisteria_ has uncovered a truly alarming reason to prefer Buffy the Vampire Slayer in standard aspect ratio (as it was aired and as Joss Whedon says it was intended) rather than widescreen. Occasionally you get unintended framing or crew members at the side of the screen.

This is far far worse. Swallow that drink before clicking.

As I commented there, this calls for liberal application of duct tape to the left and right of your screen to correct the framing, NOW!
