LotR fans, check your egos at the door.

a review of Fellowship. (found at the [livejournal.com profile] lordoftherings community)

Meanwhile, I wish JavaScript worked more consistently across browsers. (Yeah, don't we all. Well, many of us.)

It's ironic that the reviewer excoriates the movie for containing "factual errors" and yet calls Frodo Bilbo's son.

And says that Gandalf is a white wizard.

At least in that case Gandalf eventually does become a white wizard -- though not, if I recall correctly, until The Two Towers. Frodo ain't never gonna be Bilbo's son.

Also, he complains that we should see what happens to Gandalf after he falls into Shadow, and in a strict chronological sense he's correct. But we, the reader, don't find out about about what Gandalf has been up to until he rejoins the Fellowship in The Two Towers.

So in conclusion, the reviewer is a bozo.

It sounds like it was written by a not very clueful high school student who was watching it for a class and only half paying attention.

Not sure why I'm saying this, but...

I think she was writing it from the perspective of someone who hadn't read the books and was explaining how confusing it could be for someone who hadn't. She said she had. I guess that means extra mistakes to make a point.

Or somethin'.

I hear ya on the JavaScript thing. Mostly, I wish JavaScript weren't such a giant security hole.
